What Is Intraoperative Monitoring?

IOM is the application of various tests to monitor the neurological structures that are at risk during your surgery (e.g., spinal cord or brain). The data gathered from these tests is used to give your surgeon feedback on how your procedure is affecting your neurological structures and reduce the risk of negative surgical outcomes such as paralysis or stroke.

Sentient Medical Systems is the nation’s largest provider of Intraoperative Monitoring.  Sentient is comprised of extensively trained technologists with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a health science related field.  All technologists are supervised by the Sentient staff of Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Doctors.
