TCD has been established as a sensitive, easy to use technique for measuring cerebral blood flow velocity. Blood flow velocity appears to be compromised in soldiers who have been in the vicinity of bomb blasts but who have not been close enough to receive any physical wounding. By using Sentient’s TCD services, U.S. Army physicians hope to more specifically characterize and monitor cerebral blow flow changes these soldier’s appear to experience which result in mild to severely chronic traumatic brain injuries and related problems.

The contract is for a one year term with two one year options. This follows the successful completion of a TCD contract awarded to Sentient NeuroCare Services by AMEDD in October, 2008.

The AMEDD TCD Program will take place at Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio, and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

“We are pleased to be able to continue to provide this important diagnostic service to members of our military,” said Dr. Alex Razumovsky, PhD, FAHA, and Vice-President and Director of Sentient NeuroCare Services. “We are uniquely positioned to offer the level of quality and responsiveness essential to the success of the TCD Services’ program at WRNMC, SAMMC and LRMC, including the delivery of 7/24/365 TCD coverage, as an integral part of combat casualty care and continuity of care.”
